Posted June 10, 2019 19:53:20A bride-of-two is “scared” after being informed she is not being invited to a wedding in Zimbabwe.
Wedding photographer Ben Jackson says the bride, who had been married to a local man for 20 years, was approached by a man with a large tattoo on his arm who was upset because the wedding dress did not have enough pockets.
He told the bride she was not invited and she was told she would have to dress in a different one.
“He was saying that the wedding was over but we were going to wear the same wedding dress, so we were told that if we wanted to wear different ones we would have no choice,” Mr Jackson said.
“So I said to him that if that’s what he wanted to do, fine.
We’re going to do it.”
But the wedding photographer says she was also told her dress was too big and that she would need to wear an extra-large dress, which was not appropriate.
Mr Jackson said the wedding guests were “very apologetic” for the misunderstanding.
“I think it’s something that we can all accept and understand,” he said.
He said the guests were not allowed to leave the reception until they had paid the fee and the bride was told to return to her home.
“It’s just not right,” he told the ABC.
“We can all understand that if the dress is too big, then that’s a bit of a hassle, but to tell her that she needs to wear a different dress is completely wrong.”
Mr Jackson has been contacted for comment.
