The number of weddings in the U.S. has grown from roughly 200,000 in the early 1990s to more than 7 million in 2016, according to research firm Wedding Photographer magazine.
That’s nearly a three-fold increase in five years.
The industry has seen its growth fueled by digital technology, but there’s a lot more going on.
“Wedding Photography has never been more popular,” says Mark Karpinski, chief executive officer of Wedding Photographer.
“It’s now a $5 billion-a-year business.
Wedding photographers are going to do more than just take photos of your wedding day.”
Here are 10 ways wedding photography can be more profitable.
Wedding Photography Cost $500,000 to $1.2 Million In some cases, the cost of renting wedding photography equipment can top $1 million.
That means a wedding photographer can charge nearly twice as much as a typical wedding photographer.
For the best wedding photography experience, look for a photographer that’s comfortable with being photographed, says Brian Phelan, a wedding photography instructor and instructor in the Wedding Photography Institute.
“You’re paying for a professional’s skills,” Phelon says.
“A lot of wedding photographers are still paying for their own equipment.”
Wedding Photography Pricing Options Wedding Photography Professionals, such as photographers and wedding videographers, can get professional pricing.
Many wedding photographers can work from home, with little or no experience working in wedding photography.
The same goes for wedding videakers, who typically work with a wedding venue, such a hotel, venue manager or host.
You can also work for a wedding vendor and pay a fee, but that vendor typically charges more.
Wedding Photographer Salary: $50,000-$150,000 Wedding Photographer is the most common category of professional photographer, but you can also choose to work for an artist or photographer.
Artists and photographers typically charge $25,000 or less, and can make up to $250,000 annually.
Wedding Photographers can charge more for a small gallery like a wedding, or for a larger, more detailed wedding.
The more professional the photography, the more money you’ll be able to make.
“When I started in this field, I made $25 an hour.
Today, I make about $400,” says Scott Schofield, a Wedding Photographer from Las Vegas, Nev., who works with clients such as The White Stripes, Beyoncé and the Royal Family.
“The difference is, now I can make a lot of money with less training.”
Wedding Photographer Job Outlooks vary widely among the professional wedding photographers, says Wedding Photographer editor Mary Ann Loeffler.
Some have more limited experience, while others are more experienced than most.
Some photographers make more money than others because they specialize in one type of photographer, such film-based wedding photography or photography that includes more than one medium.
“There are a few people who will go out and do a couple of different kinds of work,” Loeefler says.
If you want to be a wedding director, Loeedlers recommends working in the wedding photography business, where she says you can make more than $150,00 annually.

“If you’re not a photographer, you can get a good job in the photo industry,” says Karpinskas.
“But if you’re a wedding coordinator or a wedding planner, you’ll make much more than a wedding.”
The Importance of Style Wedding photographers can be one of the most important parts of a wedding day.
The importance of style is what really sets the tone for a reception, Loesler says, because a great wedding can be a show of who you are and what you’re looking for.
“Everyone wants to look great and look smart and the most successful wedding is the wedding where everyone looks their best,” she says.
Style in the Reception Can be a Matter of Style What you choose to wear during your wedding ceremony can be an important factor.
“Your style should be a statement to your guests,” says Loeesler.
“Whether you’re wearing a wedding dress or a short skirt or a suit, you should look your best.”
Style in The After Party A theme for a special after-party can be important to your wedding, too.
“Style is the biggest factor in how the reception will go,” Loeser says.
Dress your bride to show off your style, and be sure to have your hair and makeup done in a specific way, Lothars says.
The Wedding Photographer Association, the professional body representing wedding photographers in the United States, offers advice for photographers on how to best prepare for a specific reception, as well as other topics like wedding photography training and more.
